It’s already time to update you again, and I have a lot to share!
Hamelin Stoop Book 3 has taken shape. With a more complicated plot, it’s much longer than the previous two books. I introduce some new characters, and Hamelin must face fear and danger yet again. I’m excited for you to read it when it releases. We haven’t set a launch date yet, but you will be the first to know about pre-orders, the title, and the cover.
Also, in a very exciting month of April, the Hamelin Stoop books received multiple awards. On April 7, our daughter Alathea was gracious enough to attend the North Texas Book Festival in Denton, Texas, in my place, and accept First Place in Young Adult Fiction for Book 1 and Third Place in Young Adult Fiction for Book 2. Then, just a week later, Texas Authors, Inc. released their 2018 Best Book Awards and named Hamelin Stoop Book 2 the 2018 Best Middle Grade Fantasy.
I’m very honored by these awards and grateful that Texas has festivals and organizations that recognize the work of Texas authors. While I don’t write the books for the awards, seeing “award-winning book” on your own work is encouraging.
Sue and I also want to invite you to join us on June 9 in Wimberley, Texas. With a host of other Texas authors, we will be selling and signing the books at the Wimberley Book Festival. Please come by and say hi and talk to us about the books and the family. We would love to catch up with you.

I’m still blogging regularly at RobertBSloan.com and have been focusing on tips for college students. All of these blogs include advice from HBU faculty and staff. The most recent blog about social media and devices reminded me of how technologically saturated our culture is. While devices and social media are helpful tools, I hope you’ll take some time this month to turn them off, read a real book, and have a meaningful face-to-face conversation.
I hope we’ll see in you in Wimberley.
