October is a busy month for universities: the semester is in full swing, Homecoming is always fun, and this year we just hosted the Spirit of Excellence Gala. But I didn’t know until recently that October is also a busy month in the world of literature.
I don’t have anything to tell you on Book 3 except that I have been working on it, and I hope you enjoy the story as much as I do. Some characters get bolder. Some make mistakes, and some will be new to you. The release date we have been tossing around is late summer 2019. If you join my mailing list, you’ll be the first to know when the release date and cover are revealed.
Texas Book Festival
I signed Hamelin Stoop books on Saturday, October 27, in downtown Austin at the annual Texas Book Festival. I believe it’s the largest book festival in the state and will have some wonderful authors at multiple exhibits and tables.
Texas Teen Book Festival
In early October, Sue and I attended the Texas Teen Book Festival. It was encouraging to see so many junior high and high school students who wanted to meet authors and buy new books. We loved getting to talk about Hamelin Stoop.
Another wonderful lesson we’ve learned in this publishing process has been the importance of independent bookstores. Austin’s Book People currently has the first two books in the Hamelin Stoop series available and on display. I’m very grateful to bookstores like this one for supporting local Texas authors.
You are some of our dearest friends and best supporters in this process of writing fiction. Thank you for reading these blogs, talking to your local libraries and bookstores, and most importantly, for reading the books! I hope you like reading them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them.
My publicist has been setting up different book signings and events for the coming months across the state of Texas. You can contact us here if you know of an event or want me to come speak at a school or library about writing, fiction, and the importance of imagination.
Thank you again for your support and friendship.
